What does an Automatic Capacitance Inductance Tester do?

product-750-750

The Automatic Capacitance & Inductance Tester is a multifunctional impedance analyzer engineered for in-situ evaluation of reactive components. It eliminates the need for busbar removal by performing non-intrusive measurements directly on energized or de-energized banks, dramatically reducing both outage duration and the likelihood of inflicting collateral damage during inspection.

Equipped with advanced auto-identification algorithms, the instrument distinguishes between capacitive, inductive, and resistive test objects without manual range selection. Upon connection, it automatically configures the optimal measurement parameters and displays the component type, nominal value, and equivalent series resistance (ESR) or quality factor (Q) as applicable.

Beyond capacitance and inductance measurement, the unit incorporates a standalone current-detection channel. This allows operators to perform load-current surveys, inrush-current capture, or harmonic current profiling independently, effectively consolidating multiple field instruments into a single portable platform.

What are the measurement ranges and accuracy for capacitance and inductance?

Test voltage

AC 100V±10%, 50Hz

AC 40V±10%, 50Hz

AC 8V±10%, 50Hz

AC 2V±10%, 50Hz

Measurement range

Capacitance range: 0.1uF~10000uF±1%+0.01uF

Inductance range: 50uH~20H±3%+0.05uF

Current range: 5mA~2A±3%+0.05mA

Resistance range: 20mΩ~20kΩ±3%+0.1mΩ

On what principle does the Automatic Capacitance Inductance Tester operate?

A test voltage at a specific frequency is applied to the device under test; the voltage, current, and phase within the sampling circuit are measured to calculate the capacitance or inductance value based on impedance relationships, while simultaneously determining associated parameters such as voltage, current, frequency, impedance, and phase angle.
A differential frequency power output is employed to shift the test signal away from the frequency band of power-frequency interference, thereby significantly enhancing anti-interference capability and ensuring measurement accuracy even in strong magnetic field environments.

How do you test single-phase and three-phase systems?

Tap the "Three-phase Measurement" icon, select the test type (capacitance/inductance) and wiring configuration (Yn/Y/D/III), and enter the rated voltage. Upon startup, the device automatically measures each phase sequentially and compiles the results after all three phases are completed; the three-phase mode utilizes the built-in CT, requiring only voltage lead connections.

Tap "Single-phase Measurement" to select the test type (capacitance, inductance, or resistance). Current can be measured via the built-in CT or an external current clamp. After entering the rated voltage and starting the test, results can be saved and printed, and the test can be repeated.

How should the capacitor be wired when testing single-phase or three-phase systems?

Single-phase: Connect the yellow clip to the positive terminal and the black clip to the negative terminal; measurement is performed by clamping the current clamp onto the positive terminal. If using the built-in CT, no external current clamp is required.
Three-phase: Depending on the configuration (Y, Yn, D, or III), use the red and black clips to connect to the corresponding busbar phases in sequence (e.g., for Phase A, connect the red clip to A and the black clip to B, rotating through the phases); in three-phase mode, use the built-in CT without an external current clamp.

Can accurate measurements be made in a strong magnetic field environment?

Yes. Differential-frequency power supplies separate the test frequency from on-site power-frequency interference, significantly enhancing anti-interference capabilities and ensuring accuracy is maintained even in strong magnetic fields near high-voltage equipment.
In environments with complex electromagnetic conditions-such as substations and power plants-where traditional instruments are susceptible to induced voltage, differential-frequency technology ensures stable and reliable readings.

What is the manufacturer's overall strength?

Manufactured by Hebei Dual Canopy, a company specializing in power testing equipment. The product range covers transformer oil analysis, transformer testing, and high-voltage testing, serving sectors such as the power industry, electrified railways, marine, telecommunications, and municipal infrastructure.
Customization options are available, including logo printing and adjustable test lead lengths; bulk purchasing and project-specific custom configurations are also supported.

FAQ

01.When is it prohibited to use electrical testing equipment?

When the equipment is damaged, or when cables are aging and exposed; when the equipment is uncalibrated or out of calibration; when flammable or explosive gases or dust are present in the testing environment; or when the operator is not wearing necessary protective equipment.

02.What precautions should a novice take when operating electrical testing equipment?

Operate under the guidance of a professional and familiarize yourself with the equipment manual before starting. Start practicing with low-voltage, simple testing scenarios. Strictly adhere to safety regulations, avoid changing test parameters or operating procedures without authorization, and seek help promptly if any problems arise.

03.What is electrical testing equipment? What is its core function?

Electrical testing equipment is a specialized instrument used to test the electrical performance and safety status of electrical systems and equipment. Its core function is to ensure the safety, reliability, and compliance of electrical equipment operation and to proactively detect potential faults and hidden dangers.
