Cooling medium and insulation method: Completely different design concepts
Oil-immersed transformers use insulating oil as the core medium for cooling and insulation. Common insulating oils include mineral oil, silicone oil, etc. Its core and windings are completely immersed in a closed oil tank, and there are heat sinks or cooling pipes on the outside of the oil tank. Insulating oil not only has excellent insulating performance, but also can efficiently transfer the heat generated by the transformer during operation, achieving heat dissipation through natural convection or forced circulation of the oil. However, this design also poses certain risks. The insulating oil is prone to leakage and aging, which requires regular maintenance and monitoring.
